Applications Invited
The APA Office of Children's Affairs invites applications for the 2007-08
APA/Shire Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowships. The fellowships will be
awarded to five residents to travel to two APA annual meetings and to work
with mentors on issues in child and adolescent psychiatry.
This program is designed to promote interest in working with children and
adolescents. Fellows will learn about exciting new clinical research and the
most successful public programs for the treatment of seriously mentally ill
children and adolescents. They also will have opportunities to meet and
network with leaders in child and adolescent psychiatry.
The APA/Shire Child and Adolescent Fellowship is open to PGY-1 through
PGY-3 residents. Applicants must be APA members andhave approval by their
training director or department chair.
The deadline for applications is December 8. They must include a completed
application form; a statementof interest from the applicant that gives a
detailed outline of his or her experience, knowledge, and interest in child
and adolescent psychiatry; a curriculum vitae; and a letter of support from a
residency training director or department chair that describes the resident's
potential contribution to the field.
This program is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Shire
Pharmaceuticals, overseen by the APA Council on Children, Adolescents, and
Their Families, and administered by Jane Edgerton, project manager of the
Office of Children's Affairs.
