Assembly Elects New Officers
The Assembly filled the positions of speaker-elect and recorder in an election
held at its May meeting in Atlanta.

Assembly members chose Michael Blumenfield, M.D., to be
speaker-elect and Jeffrey Akaka, M.D., to serve as recorder.
Blumenfield, who is from Scardsdale, N.Y., just completed a one-year term
as recorder and is a past chair of the Joint Commission on Public Affairs.
Akaka, of Honolulu, has been the Area 7 deputy representative. He is also
an APA delegate to the AMA.
At the close of the three-day meeting, Joseph Rubin, M.D., who had
been speaker-elect, moved up to the speaker's post.
