Foundation Funds Campaign
The American Psychiatric Foundation granted $50,000 to the Depression and
Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) in support of its Men and Depression Awareness
Project. The project seeks to educate men and their families about depression
and to reduce the devastating impact this disease has when left untreated.
The Men and Depression Awareness Project includes an educational kit
containing print brochures and an awareness poster to be distributed to 5,000
college and university health centers across the country. Messages were
developed to increase awareness of the symptoms of depression, reduce the
stigma that prevents men from seeking help, and provide tips for family and
friends. In addition, a depression screening form was created for the DBSA Web
site at
<www.DBSAlliance.org>.
The foundation is APA's charitable arm. To obtain more information
