Take a One-Stop Culinary Tour

When you think of San Francisco, one of the first things that comes to mind is its culinary offerings. Here’s a chance not only to sample an array of expertly prepared dishes, but also to learn the chef’s secrets behind them.
Students at the California Culinary Academy spend their days mastering such delights as tea-smoked duck prepared in chive pancakes with plum sauce, crêpes suzette, pacific salmon with a tomato coulis and basil sauce, and chocolate lava cake. So who eats all the food that the students prepare? You can!
Join the American Psychiatric Foundation and the American Psychiatric Association Alliance for this year’s benefit event: "A Taste of San Francisco," which will be held Saturday, May 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the California Culinary Academy during APA’s 2003 annual meeting.
The event will feature foods from the many cultures represented in San Francisco, truly a melting pot of flavors. Attendees will be able to enjoy the culinary arts up close as chefs prepare a variety of delectable treats.
The event will take place in the lovely Careme room, which occupies a newly renovated 1912 hall with a high-vaulted ceiling of German and Flemish Renaissance style. Attendees will receive recipes of the foods that were prepared and will be invited to participate in a silent auction.
Proceeds will help support the American Psychiatric Foundation and the APA Alliance’s programs in research and education.
Tickets are $125 per person ($75 tax deductible) or $200 per couple ($100 tax deductible). Free shuttle service will run from the Moscone Center to the academy at 625 Polk Street.
