It gave me great pleasure to read the article on Dr. Frieda Fromm-Reichmann in the May 3 issue. Dr. Fromm-Reichmann was one of my training analysts at the William Alanson White Institutes, and her profound perceptions lighted the way for the patients’ progress. But she was no "goody-goody" and could be quite severe when the occasion called for it.

My life and work has greatly benefited from her insight and kindness.
