Campbell Honored for Lifelong Service
Robert J. Campbell III, M.D. (right), receives a plaque from former APA President John McIntyre, M.D., honoring Campbells "lifelong dedication and advocacy on behalf of patients and the psychiatric profession."
In presenting the award at the Assembly meeting in Philadelphia last month, McIntyre, who chairs APAs political action committee (PAC), noted that Campbell chaired the PACs predecessor, the Corporation for the Advancement of Psychiatry, for nearly 20 years.
Hailing Campbell as "one of the most important leaders in psychiatry in the last 25 years," McIntyre cited a record of Campbells accomplishments that included serving as speaker of the APA Assembly, member of the Board of Trustees for 10 years, APA vice president, board member of the American Psychiatric Foundation, and editor in chief of Psychiatric News for 15 years.
