Acupuncture Success

John M. Ackerman, M.D.

Santa Barbara, Calif.

Recently I had an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. On two separate occasions I had teeth drilled for deep cavities but experienced no pain whatsoever simply by the placement of six half-inch acupuncture needles into strategic points on my hands, wrist, ear, and scalp. While Novacain was available if I needed it, no anesthetic, local or general, was used.

The skills utilized to initiate this painless experience require very special training. Physicians from across the United States can learn the same technique, as well as other uses of acupuncture in other medical specialties, by attending the course "Chinese Acupuncture for Physicians" sponsored by the department of family medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and Cignolini Education Associates.
