Annual Meeting

Early Birds To Get Child Care At Discounted Fees

If you want to register your children for APA’s child care program during the 2001 annual meeting in New Orleans, don’t delay.

There’s good news for APA members who would like their children to participate in the child care program at this year’s annual meeting. First, APA is offering drastically reduced child care fees for the first 50 children of APA members registered for child care each day, and second, this year’s program includes expanded activities and tours of New Orleans sites for an additional fee.

The fee for child care is $20 per day per child for those eligible for the reduced fee.

The provider of this year’s child care program is ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements Inc. For APA’s meeting, ACCENT has planned an on-site children’s activity program called Camp APA. Camp APA offers children a safe, nurturing, and positive experience.

ACCENT’s professional, trained supervisors are certified in both CPR and pediatric first aid. The ACCENT staff are teachers, professional child care providers, or mothers who love working with children and have completed ACCENT’s training program. All ACCENT employees’ references have been thoroughly checked.

Children aged 6 months to 17 years are welcome to participate. Activities will take place on site for all children under 6 years old; the older children have the option of experiencing New Orleans through tours designed specifically for youngsters.

Children at the center will enjoy arts-and-crafts projects, active games, and much more. Youth tours will depart from and return to the on-site Camp APA activity center each day. The tours include visits to the Aquarium of the Americas, the Audubon Zoological Gardens, the Louisiana Children’s Museum, Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World, and the French Quarter.

The reduced fee of $20 per child per day is nonrefundable upon registration. Registration fees for children registered after the initial 50 children are $11 an hour for children 6 months to 36 months, and $7 an hour for children 3 years and older. There is a three-hour minimum regardless of age. Parents have the option of bringing lunch to their children at the center or purchasing lunch at a cost of $12 per day per child.

A proposed schedule of events appears in the Advance Registration Information Booklet and on APA’s Web site at www.psych.org/sched_events/ann_mtg_01/children_copyandform_2001.pdf. To register, use the form below or the one in the Advance Registration Information Booklet. Further information on children’s activities is available by calling (504) 524-0188. {blacksquare}
